Hill School Technology Initiative

Hill School is on the pathway to becoming a 1:1 computer school, meaning that every student and teacher has access to computer-aided learning solutions. Hill School technology emphasis is on increasing interactivity between teacher and student -- software and hardware are not purchased or installed until there is demonstrated relevance to the learning needs of our students.

Instructional technology includes:
  • Wireless technology has been installed throughout both Grapevine and Fort Worth campuses to facilitate use of technology.
  • Three mobile labs (60 laptops) are available for check-out for classroom use, along with the existing four standard computer labs.
  • All classrooms have LCD projectors, and Mimio or SMART Boards are being installed for enhanced interactive instruction.
  • Thinkpad tablet computers for interactive teaching and learning have been purchased for faculty, which allows teachers to write with a stylus directly on the computer screen and project it for instruction, or post on RenWeb for student access.
  • The majority of teachers have attended training at the Lausanne Summer Laptop Institute to prepare for transition to a 1:1 computer classroom.
  • Dyknow software allows teachers to monitor the computer use of students in the classroom and provide individual feedback and coaching.
  • Cody Hanson (Fort Worth) and Chaz Bowen (Grapevine) have been designated Technology Integrators, with responsibility for assisting teachers ands students with making effective use of technology a key element in the Student Success Pathway.
  • A wide variety of software for student use, including traditional learning games, Accelerated Reader (AR) and Rosetta Stone language-learning software.
