Admissions

The admissions procedure is designed to identify for admission students having average to above-average intelligence who will benefit most from Hill School's specialized curriculum. New students are accepted to the school on the basis of psycho-educational testing, previous school records, and observations by teachers on required days of student visitation. A potential student must have been tested with an individual intelligence test, preferably the Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children Fourth Edition (WISC-IV) or Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale (WAIS) or the Woodcock Johnson Cognitive (WJ-Cog), within the last three years and with an educational achievement test within the last year. Additional diagnostic and psychological testing may be required.

Application Process

  1. At the time of the initial parent inquiry, a packet of information about Hill School will be mailed to the requesting individual.
  2. Following receipt of the information, parents should contact the Director of Admissions (Fort Worth Campus) or Principal (Grapevine Campus) to answer any questions and schedule attendance at a Parent Orientation Meeting. During this meeting, the Director of Admissions will spend 45 minutes with the interested parents touring the school and explaining the purpose and policies of Hill School.
  3. Following the Parent Orientation meeting, parents interested in enrolling their students should request that any psychological, educational or diagnostic testing from a qualified clinician or organization be sent to Hill School. The evaluative material should include an IQ test score and should have been completed within the previous 3 years.
  4. Following review of the testing information by school personnel, a two day visitation will be scheduled. These school visitations provide both the student and the Hill School staff an opportunity to see if this would be the most appropriate educational setting.
  5. Following the day's visit, the teachers provide a written summary of the visit, and confer with the diagnostician, Director of Admissions, and Principal. A phone call will be made by the Director of Admissions within 24 hours of the visit informing parents of acceptance status. The Admissions Director will follow-up the acceptance phone call with a letter and registration packet.
