As our students navigate the last years of their secondary education, our goal is to equip them with the tools and skills needed to engage with the larger world. Academically, we prepare our students to seek and engage in further learning experiences. Developmentally, we aim to ensure that students are ready to take on the world, advocate for themselves, and have a clear idea of their path after graduation.
Consistent with the Hill School programming at other levels, our upper school students are ability-grouped for English/reading and again for mathematics courses. The demands of high school subjects, with regard to content and complexity, are in line with Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) requirements. However, Hill School’s Upper School programming allows for flexibility to consider the pace of instruction and volume of associated assignments.
BRIGHT FUTURES
About 90% of Hill School graduates attend two or four-year college programs. Our College & Career Counselors work 1:1 with Juniors and Seniors to develop a path to graduation, discuss ACT/SAT accommodations, and assist with college applications.
We understand that college is not the goal for every family! Whether students are drawn to technical or vocational programs, join the armed services, find their passion in the community as a volunteer, or jump right into the workforce — Hill School’s College & Career counselors are ready to support our students in reaching any of their post-secondary goals.
Upper School students may partake in the many clubs and student organizations offered at Hill School! Enrichment classes, such as IT Academy or Yearbook, allow students to explore areas of interest and provide them with more opportunities to thrive.
One of the unique benefits of Hill School is our athletic program. We believe everyone deserves a chance to participate on a team. This gives students the opportunity to learn sportsmanship, discipline, the value of hard work — and experience the joy of team camaraderie.
Our fine arts department provides Upper School students with a creative outlet. Here, they can explore their imagination through visual arts, develop timing and coordination through musical arts, and build confidence through performing arts.

INVOLVEMENT
Learning to lead is an essential skill every person can use along their life path. Leadership skills combine strong communication, enthusiasm, collaboration and task management. Upper School students have numerous opportunities to excel in and out of the classroom and gain leadership experience. From student government to athletic teams, and interest-based clubs to performing arts, our students grow confidence when they can share their passions with their peers.
Our Upper School program is designed to correlate with state requirements, and we offer degree plans that meet or exceed the requirements under House Bill 5.
