Roxann Breyer

Head of School

Roxann Breyer has been an integral member of the Hill School team since 2006! She earned her undergraduate degree in math and business from the University of Mary Hardin Baylor and her master’s degree from Texas Christian University, where she taught freshman biology and environmental science before making the move to secondary school. Ms. Breyer served in several roles at Hill School over the years spanning from Teacher to Coach, to Department Head, before becoming Head of School in 2017. She is also a Schools Attuned Facilitator and has attended Learning and the Brain conferences over the last several years. At Hill, she most enjoys watching the students grow and learn new things. In her free time, Ms. Breyer can be found traveling with her son and two precious granddaughters.

Joe Belyeu

Assistant Head of School

Joe Belyeu joins the Hill community with 20 years of independent school experience, including six years as Lower School Principal at a Texas private school. He has worked across all school divisions and holds a master’s in Educational Leadership from UTA and received a certification in School Management and Leadership from the Harvard Business School. Passionate about fostering a supportive environment, Mr. Belyeu is committed to ensuring that teachers and students feel safe and valued. In his free time, Mr. Belyeu enjoys spending time with his daughter and wife, Bridget who is also an educator in the area.

Shelvy Arberry

Director of Athletics

Shelvy Arberry joined the Hill School family in 2016, as a coach and PE teacher. Now as the Director of Athletics, Coach Arberry looks forward to growing the athletic department while helping young athletes reach their full potential. With a Bachelors degree in Human Behavior from Harding University, and a former DII athlete himself, Coach Arberry is dedicated to teaching students how to live active, healthy, and balanced lifestyles. In his free time, you can find him cheering on the Michigan Wolverines and San Francisco 49ers, playing basketball, or working on a jigsaw puzzle.

Michelle Frantz

Front Desk & Student Records Manager; Varsity Cheer Coach

Michelle Frantz joined Hill School in 2004 and enjoys the family atmosphere – she will tell you that the “students and their families are awesome and the faculty and staff are great to work with!” Mrs. Frantz loves working with the cheer squad each year. Each year, she looks forward to what cheer season has in store for the group because there’s “never a dull moment” at Hill! Ask Mrs. Frantz about her participation in GI Jane Day – throwing a grenade was a highlight! Mother to three children, her spare time finds her going on adventures with her family.

Abbey Griffin

Director of College & Career Counseling

With over 20 years’ experience in school settings, ranging from middle school counseling to college admission, Abbey Griffin joined Hill School several years ago as the Director of College and Career Counseling. She is passionate about “helping students along their journey to find the best match for their college or career!” Mrs. Griffin earned her undergraduate degree in English from Texas Wesleyan University, where she met her husband, a realtor and percussionist. Together they have a young son and daughter and enjoy spending time together as a family.

Kimberly Helixon

Dean of Student Success

Kimberly Helixon taught at Hill School from 1999 to 2004, and we are thrilled to welcome her back! For over two decades Mrs. Helixon has been involved in education and teacher training in both public and private schools. She is looking forward to forming connections with all of the students at Hill!

Katelyn Hoggatt

School Counselor

With a Bachelor’s degree from Louisiana Tech and a dual Master’s degree in School and Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Missouri Baptist University, Katelyn Hoggatt is our dedicated and knowledgeable School Counselor. Currently an LPC Associate under the supervision of Amy Kirchoff, LPC-S, Ms. Hoggatt is in her second year here at Hill School. She is passionate about providing support and guidance to students in a safe and inclusive environment. In her free time, Ms. Hoggatt enjoys thrifting, watching reality TV, and spending time at home!

Phillip Howley

Director of Technology

Phillip Howley joined Hill School’s administrative team in 2008 as our Technology Director. From his first days, Mr. Howley has been a student favorite and he enjoys the family atmosphere of Hill School – “it’s more than just a school community.” Mr. Howley’s previous work experiences at Renweb in training and support made him a natural fit for Hill. Since its inception in 2009, Mr. Howley has been instrumental in developing Hill’s 1:1 Technology Integration Initiative. Mr. Howley enjoys the small part of his day that he can be in the classroom with his media students and in his spare time, he spends time with his family doing outdoor activities.

Amanda Rosales, C-SLDI, M. Ed.

Dean of Curriculum & Testing; English Dept. Head; College & Career Counselor

Bringing over 20 years of experience with her, Mrs. Rosales joined the Hill School faculty in 2013. She earned her undergraduate degree from Tarleton State University and her master’s from Texas Wesleyan University and believes that students “learn in different ways, at different speeds and have different strengths and weaknesses.” Mrs. Rosales loves to read and play games with her husband and their two daughters.

Jennifer Sande

School Operations Coordinator

Jennifer Sande joined Hill School as the Operations Coordinator in July 2024. She brings valuable experience from her previous roles as an Office Secretary and Director of Campus Operations at local charter schools. Prior to her career in education, Jennifer worked in professional sales for over 20 years. Originally from Colorado Springs, Colorado, Jennifer graduated from the University of Colorado at Boulder with a BA in International Affairs. She lives in Fort Worth with her husband of 20 years, Shawn, and their 13-year-old twins, Benjamin and Sophia.

Maddie Sims

Director of Marketing & Communication

Maddie Sims joined Hill School as the Director of Marketing and Communication in 2024, bringing with her a B.S. in Journalism and Mass Communications from Abilene Christian University. With experience in advertising from various creative agencies in Fort Worth, she was enthusiastic about transitioning to a role that aligns with her passion for education. Raised in a family of educators, Mrs. Sims appreciates the profound impact that educators and schools have on student development and is eager to leverage her creative skills to effectively communicate Hill School’s story. Outside of work, she enjoys traveling with family, cheering on the Kansas City Chiefs, and spending time with her husband and 3-year-old corgi, Pickles.

Alexandra Olson

Director of Admissions & Enrollment Management

When you join the Hill School family, one of the first people you’ll meet is Alexandra Olson, our Director of Admissions and Enrollment Management. Mrs. Olson became part of our team in 2024, bringing with her a decade of experience working with children and families in the foster care system. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Human Development and Family Services from Oklahoma State University and is eager to share her expertise to help families discover the exceptional learning opportunities Hill School offers. Outside of her role supporting Hawk families and prospective students, Mrs. Olson enjoys spending quality time with her loved ones, thrifting, and reading.

Jennifer Bachew

Math & Science Teacher

Jennifer Bachew joined the Hill team in July of 2019. She obtained her Bachelor’s in Secondary Education from Northwestern University in Evanston, IL. Prior to teaching at Hill School, she has taught Chemistry, AP Chemistry, and Anatomy at Chicago Christian High School. Mrs. Bachew has also tutored math, science, ACT, and SAT Prep. Her interests and hobbies include biking, hiking, gardening, reading, and spending time with her family. She looks forward to working at Hill School so that she can challenge students to reach for their full potential, build relationships with students and faculty, as well as grow as a teacher. Another fun fact about Mrs. Bachew – she lived on the island of Trinidad for 20 years, serving as a missionary and home schooling her two children who are now in college in Texas!

Eileen Bain

Science Department Chair

Eileen Bain joined Hill School as an innovative Science instructor in 2011 after teaching in parochial school for several years. Before moving to Texas with her 5 children and finding her true calling in education, Ms. Bain worked as an occupational therapist in Louisiana. She studied at LSU Medical Center where she earned her bachelor’s degree and has teaching certification through UTA. “Blending my educational beliefs with my personal experiences made me realize that learning is possible for all children if one takes the time to discover how they learn best.” She is the mother of five wonderful, talented, grown children and mamaw to five fantastic grandchildren; football season finds her cheering for Duke, Tulane, LSU, UNC, UNT, A&M, TCU, WSU, and MSU to appease each of them. Mrs. Bain likes working at Hill School because she loves the challenge of teaching students with unique talents.

Jonah Copeland

Music Teacher

Jonah Copeland joined Hill School as our Music Teacher in 2024. With extensive experience teaching music, choir, theater, and percussion, Mr. Copeland brings a wealth of knowledge to his role. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Music and Vocal Performance from Texas Wesleyan University and completed a certificate program at Convergence School of Ministry. At Hill School, Mr. Copeland enjoys blending his passion for music with his commitment to helping students develop crucial executive function skills. Versatile in his musical talents, he sings across genres from opera to rock ‘n’ roll and enjoys playing the guitar in his spare time.

Chris Errico

Math Teacher

Chris Errico taught in public school for 5 years before joining Hill School in 2001. She enjoys teaching at Hill because she likes helping students who might struggle in school to find success. Mrs. Errico earned her degree in Special Education from the University of West Florida and believes that “all kids can learn.” Married to fellow Hill School teacher Mr. Matt Errico for 20 years, they have teamed up to sponsor the school’s Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Additionally, she is the parent to three children, including two Hill School graduates. In her free time, she loves spending time with her family.

Blanca Gonzalez

Spanish Teacher

Born and raised in Spain, Blanca Gonzalez moved to the United States in 2001. She joined the Hill School faculty in 2013 and enjoys the small classes and the teaching environment where her goal is “to motivate students toward a level of independence where they develop a desire to learn and think for themselves.” She has her master’s degree in Foreign Language and Literature from the University of Alcala de Henares in Madrid and has taught every age of student, from kindergarten to the college level. Maestra Gonzalez enjoys spending time with her husband and their young daughter (who is bi-lingual) and has done work with the American Cancer Society and Red Cross.

Elaine Gustafson

Art Teacher

Elaine Gustafson joined Hill School’s faculty August 2019 with previous experience teaching preschool, kindergarten, 5th and 6th grades. She earned her degree in Environmental Design from Texas A&M University. Aside from her passion for art, Elaine enjoys traveling, reading, photography, decorating and cooking. She is very excited to join the Hill School community and looks forward to showing her students how the art room is a safe place to express themselves and discover their unique abilities. “Every child is an artist!” – Pablo Picasso

Christi Hanson

Math Department Chair

Christi Hanson has been part of Hill for over 10 years. Each year, she enjoys getting to know her students in the small setting and watching them grow over the course of the year. She earned her undergraduate degree at West Texas A&M in Interdisciplinary Studies – math, education, sports and exercise science – and her master’s degree from the University of Phoenix. Mrs. Hanson strives to be a “fair yet consistent educator with high expectations while still allowing for the feeling of success.” Out of the classroom, one might find Mrs. Hanson with her husband watching their two daughters on a volleyball court somewhere!

Joel Jackson ’09

History Teacher

Joel Jackson spent five years in education before joining Hill School in 2023 as the Upper and Middle School Social Studies teacher! He received his Bachelors in Secondary Education from Oklahoma Christian University and is currently working to attain his Masters in Teaching, Leadership and Collaboration from TWU. As a graduate of Hill School himself, Mr. Jackson is excited to be back in the place he considered his second home for 10+ years and hopefully inspire students with his own story of growth and perseverance. Mr. Jackson enjoys spending his free time with his wife, getting outdoors, and collecting vintage post cards!

Emily Kretchmar

English & History Teacher; Fine Arts Department Chair

Emily Kretchmar joined the Hill School faculty in 2013 after several years working at both the college level and in a public school setting. She earned her English degree from the University of Texas at Arlington, having graduated Summa Cum Laude, and has an M.A. in Classical Studies from Tulane University. She enjoys working at Hill School because both “the students and faculty are friendly and eager.” She believes that students are all endowed with unique qualities and gifts and she looks forward to helping Hill students be advocates for themselves.

Melissa Legvold

1st Grade Teacher

With a Bachelors from Tarleton State University – and an almost completed Masters – Ms. Melissa Legvold joins Hill’s Lower School team to teach 1st grade! Ms. Legvold has spent the last few years in Aledo ISD primarily working with students with learning disabilities. She believes every student is unique and is passionate about helping her students see that their learning difference does not mean they’re incapable of learning. Outside of the classroom, Ms. Legvold enjoys family-time, seeing local performances, and playing with her dog, Echo. Fun fact: she is a classically trained opera singer!

Jeff Nichols

American Sign Language Teacher

Jeff Nichols joined the Hill School faculty in 2024 as our American Sign Language teacher. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Spanish from The University of Texas at Arlington and a master’s in Bilingual Education from Southern Methodist University. With a strong background in ASL, including extensive coursework and experience as a certified ASL teacher and interpreter, Mr. Nichols has taught in a variety of settings both domestically and internationally. His teaching experience spans countries such as Mexico, the Philippines, Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, China, Taiwan, Haiti, and Guatemala, where he has witnessed the powerful role of sign language in bridging communication gaps. Outside of school, Mr. Nichols enjoys spending time with his wife, their four children, and seven grandchildren.

Joanna Perez

English Teacher

Having recently retired after 23 years in Everman ISD, Joanna Perez joined Hill School in 2020 to teach Middle School English. Each year, she looks forward to instilling confidence in her students while focusing on their individual needs. Ms. Perez earned her B.A. in Communication from The University of Texas at Arlington. In her free time, she enjoys reading, cooking, beach time and being with her family – especially spoiling her two granddaughters!

Zach Schleicher ’03

2nd Grade Teacher

With a Bachelors from Columbia College and over 16 years teaching Special Education, Zach Schleicher is excited to return to Hill School as our 2nd grade teacher! Mr. Schleicher was a member of Hill’s first graduating class in 2003, and piloted the Hill High School program. In fact, one of the hallways is even named after him. He believes that students can learn and thrive when given a safe, nurturing environment to foster their growth. In his free time, Mr. Schleicher enjoys gardening, reading, and playing video games with his wife!

Ashley Stroye

Intermediate School Teacher

Ashley Stroye earned her B.S in Child Growth & Development from Texas Women’s University and joined the Hill Lower School in 2022! As a former Registered Behavior Therapist, Ms. Stroye brings a wealth of knowledge and understanding to the classroom. She loves being part of a team that differentiates the needs of students and creating an environment for them to attain success. Ms. Stroye enjoys traveling, reading, and singing!

Adam Vance

Science Teacher

Adam Vance earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural Education from Tarleton State University, and teaches Middle and Upper School science. During his 28 years of teaching in public school, he was twice named Teacher of the Year at Everman High School. Mr. Vance looks forward to helping each student work towards achieving goals they have set for themselves. In his free time, he enjoys antiquing, collecting Bauer pottery and board games, and photography. He and his wife have twin boys who are freshmen at UT Arlington.

Madison Waller

4th Grade Teacher

Madison Waller taught preschool in her hometown of Colorado Springs for five years before relocating to Fort Worth and joining Hill School in 2024. As a former Teacher of the Year at her previous school, Ms. Waller champions teaching methods that promote independence within structured boundaries and takes pleasure in helping students develop essential life skills with her loving reinforcement. Her goal for her fourth-grade classroom is to foster a safe and supportive environment where students and their families can collaborate to achieve optimal outcomes.

Ashley Woods

3rd Grade Teacher

Mrs. Ashley Woods officially joined our team in 2021! While earning her BS in Early Childhood Education from Texas Christian University, she completed her student teaching in our Lower School. Mrs. Woods also worked alongside the teachers and students of Starpoint School from 2018 until receiving her Master’s degree in Special Education from TCU. Mrs. Woods always looks forward to helping her students grow emotionally and academically into the best versions of themselves! Mrs. Woods, her husband, and two dogs live in Aledo and love forming new relationships, especially through the Hill School community!

Brian Worley

English Teacher; History Department Chair; Yearbook Advisor

Brian Worley is now in his 17th year of teaching at Hill School, having joined the Hill School family in 2008. Mr. Worley earned his undergraduate degree in English from the University of Texas at Arlington. He loves to read, spends too much money on vinyl records, and likes watching basketball and baseball. Mr. Worley enjoys the “daily challenge of finding better or different ways of explaining the world” to his students, which, he says, enhances his own understanding of the world. Mr. Worley appreciates that Hill School’s supportive environment allows him to grow and learn as he’s helping his students to do the same. He and his wife Sarah have a 5^th grader and a 9^th grader at home, ensuring that his nights and weekends are as full (and fulfilling) as his days.
