FLSA Classification: Exempt- Stipend- Seasonal, Part-Time

 

Position Overview:
The Head Track Coach is responsible for leading the Hill School Track & Field program in a manner that aligns with the school’s mission and values. This position emphasizes developing student-athletes who demonstrate perseverance, teamwork, sportsmanship, and personal growth both on and off the field. The Head Coach serves as a mentor, educator, and role model, fostering a positive and inclusive environment for athletes with learning differences.

 

Key Responsibilities:
  • Report directly to and work closely with the Hill School Athletic Director.
  • Coordinate training, instruction, and conditioning for student-athletes at all levels within the Track & Field program.
  • Attend all athletic meetings as scheduled by the Athletic Director.
  • View success not solely as winning, but as helping athletes build confidence, set goals, and reach their full potential.
  • Ensure the health, safety, and welfare of every student-athlete participating in Track & Field.
  • Adhere to and model the expectations outlined in Hill School’s Athletic Handbook for self and student-athletes.
  • Maintain professional relationships with TCAF/CSAF organizations and personnel.
  • Communicate consistently and effectively with athletes, parents, and athletic department staff via email and in-person meetings.

 

Preferred Characteristics and Qualifications:
  • Coaching experience at the varsity level or personal experience competing at the collegiate level.
  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • Completion of NFHS Fundamentals of Coaching, Concussion Training, Sudden Cardiac Arrest Training, and valid First Aid/CPR certification.
  • Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to supporting student-athletes with learning differences.
  • Strong knowledge of Track & Field techniques, rules, and safety procedures.
  • Dedication to continuous learning and improvement, including staying informed about evolving coaching practices and sport-specific developments.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment
The Head Track Coach position requires the ability to:

  • Work outdoors in varying weather conditions for extended periods of time.
  • Demonstrate and model physical techniques related to Track & Field events.
  • Stand, walk, run, or move across athletic facilities for the duration of practices and meets.
  • Safely lift, carry, or move equipment weighing up to 25 pounds.
  • Maintain alertness and attentiveness to ensure student-athlete safety throughout practices, competitions, and travel.
